Former President Bill Clinton posted a video message Wednesday thanking hospital staff after being treated for sepsis at UC Irvine Medical Centre.
Clinton was admitted to the hospital last week with a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream. An aide confirmed he never entered septic shock and his condition has stabilized.
Clinton’s Message
In the video posted to his official Twitter account, Clinton thanked the medical team for their care. “I’d also like to thank the doctors and nurses at UC Irvine Medical Centre for the absolutely wonderful care that they gave me over the last seven days,” he said.
The former president expressed his commitment to recovery and continued service. “I, for one, am going to do my best to be around, to keep doing the most good I can, for a lot longer,” Clinton said.
Recovery Details
Alpesh Amin, chair of the Department of Medicine at UC Irvine Medical Centre, confirmed Clinton’s vital signs have returned to normal. “His fever and white blood cell count are normalised and he will return home to New York to finish his course of antibiotics,” Amin said.
Clinton described his current state in the video message. “I am really glad to be back home. I’m doing great, enjoying this beautiful fall weather. I’m on the road to recovery,” he said.
Health Advice
Clinton urged others to prioritize their health during his message. “Take the time to listen to your bodies and care for yourselves. We all have work to do and each of us has an important role to play in life and in the immediate future,” he said.
