Iran launched ballistic missile strikes against US military installations across the Persian Gulf, prompting multiple countries to close airspace and issue shelter-in-place orders.

The attacks targeted American bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, according to regional reports. Local authorities in each country issued emergency directives as explosions were reported across the region.

What Happened

Al Dhafra air base in the UAE came under Iranian ballistic missile fire, resulting in large explosions, according to Reuters. The UAE subsequently closed its airspace in response to the incident.

In Bahrain, smoke was observed in the Al Jufair area near a US Fifth Fleet installation following the alleged Iranian strike. The city of Manama experienced the effects of the attacks.

Qatar’s Interior Ministry issued a shelter-in-place order as a Patriot missile system reportedly intercepted an incoming missile headed toward Al Udeid airbase. Qatar’s Defense Ministry confirmed it had successfully repelled multiple attacks and declared the nation on high alert.

Kuwait also reported powerful explosions, with authorities instructing residents to remain indoors and avoid traveling to work.

Regional Response

All four countries closed or restricted their airspace following the strikes. Officials emphasized the developing nature of the situation and indicated additional information would be released as circumstances evolved.

Qatar’s Defense Ministry stressed that defensive systems had effectively countered the incoming threats. The country maintained elevated alert status throughout the incident.
