Military installations across the Persian Gulf region came under fire in coordinated attacks, prompting multiple countries to close airspace and order residents to shelter in place.

Iranian ballistic missiles struck U.S. military bases and allied facilities throughout the region, according to reports. The strikes triggered emergency protocols across the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.

What Happened

Al Dhafra air base in the United Arab Emirates sustained direct hits from Iranian ballistic missiles, causing large explosions. Smoke was also reported in the Al Jufair area of Manama, Bahrain, near a U.S. Fifth Fleet facility.

Powerful explosions were reported in Kuwait as well, with local authorities instructing citizens to remain indoors and avoid designated military zones. The Al Udeid airbase in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in the region, came under attack.

Qatar’s Defense Ministry announced it had successfully repelled multiple attacks on its territory. A Patriot missile system reportedly intercepted a missile targeting the Al Udeid airbase.

The United Arab Emirates closed its airspace following the strikes. Qatar’s Interior Ministry issued shelter-in-place directives and announced airspace closure as the country remained on high alert.

Kuwait urged residents to stay home and refrain from reporting to work amid the escalating situation. All affected nations maintained heightened military readiness as events unfolded.

Officials said the situation remained fluid with additional information expected to emerge as assessments continued. Military and government authorities across the region maintained elevated alert levels.
