Melania Trump expresses frustration regarding Eric Trump's comments about Barron's privacy and personal matters

Melania Trump expressed frustration with Eric Trump after he publicly discussed a private interaction between her son Barron and then-President Joe Biden at the January 2025 presidential inauguration.

The first lady has consistently maintained strict privacy boundaries around Barron, who is now 20 years old and attends college. During Donald Trump’s inaugural ceremony, cameras captured Barron approaching Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris, with video of the moment accumulating 7.7 million views on TikTok.

What Eric Trump Said

Months after the inauguration, Eric Trump described the moment during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show in November 2025. “And he goes, you know, like – it was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right – but [something], like, ‘Congratulations and best of luck to you’ – or something like that,” Eric told Kelly after contacting Barron directly.

Eric characterized his younger brother as measured and non-confrontational, saying “He’s probably thinking it. He definitely has it up here, but like, he’s too courteous to actually go out there and say it. Barron’s a really nice kid,” Eric said.

Melania’s Response

Insiders reported that Melania became upset over the public discussion of her son, viewing it as a violation of her longstanding boundary protecting Barron from scrutiny. “She does not want Barron discussed. Ever,” a source close to the situation said.

“She’s deeply uncomfortable with Barron trending again. He’s in college. He wants a quiet life,” the insider added, noting that Melania told Eric to cease making public comments about her son. The source described her as protective, saying “she protects that boy like a lioness.”
