Newly surfaced video from an upcoming documentary shows Hunter Biden appearing anxious and visibly frustrated days after reaching a federal plea agreement in 2023 over unpaid taxes and a felony gun charge.
The footage, reviewed by The New York Post, was captured by Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer and writer who loaned the first son more than $6.5 million to cover taxes and personal expenses. Morris followed Hunter Biden with a film crew between 2021 and 2024, documenting his personal and professional life, including his entry into the art world.
What the Video Shows
The time-stamped footage from June 29, 2023-nine days after Biden’s plea deal was finalized-captures him speaking on a cellphone from what appears to be his Malibu art studio. “Who am I protected by, Georges? Who am I protected by?” Hunter shouts into the phone while speaking with his former art dealer, Georges Berges.
Additional footage shows Berges examining one of Biden’s artworks in a courtyard at his home, with canvases leaned against walls and spread across the floor. Berges asks, “You’re still working on this? I think it’s missing something,” while Biden holds a paintbrush and his toddler son, Beau.
The documentary also includes press clips of Republican lawmakers urging then-Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate Biden’s art sales during his father’s presidency. Berges says in the footage, “There’s something special about his art. I think it’s my job to tell that story.”
The Broader Context
President Joe Biden pardoned his son in December 2024, covering an 11-year span dating back to 2014 when Biden was vice president overseeing U.S.-Ukraine relations. Hunter Biden worked for a Ukrainian energy firm during part of that period, earning millions despite lacking industry experience.
The pardon extended beyond the gun and tax charges for which Hunter faced sentencing and sparked criticism across the political spectrum. Fox News’s “The Five” examined the pardon in December, with then co-host Jeanine Pirro stating that the president had known about his son’s business practices for years.
