Buckingham Palace confirms the rumor, Charles III is.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement Monday confirming that King Charles III remains alive and conducting official business after a Russian news organization circulated a fabricated death announcement.

The false report, which included a forged palace statement and the monarch’s official seal, emerged from a Russian media outlet on March 18. Buckingham Palace swiftly responded to the misinformation, telling the Russian state-run TASS news agency: “We are happy to confirm that The King is continuing with official and private business.”

Context of Charles’ Health

The palace announced on February 5 that Charles, 75, had been diagnosed with “a form of cancer” following treatment for an enlarged prostate. Royal reporter Omid Scobie later clarified that the king does not have prostate cancer.

Charles was advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties while undergoing regular treatment. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,” the palace stated at the time.

King’s Response

Charles addressed his diagnosis publicly on February 10, saying, “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days.” He acknowledged how cancer affects individuals and praised the dedication of healthcare workers.

Since his diagnosis, Charles has maintained a reduced public schedule while continuing state business from Buckingham Palace. Other royal family members have represented the monarchy at external events during his treatment period.
