Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence under President Donald Trump, announced her resignation Friday to care for her husband who is undergoing cancer treatment.

Gabbard disclosed her decision through a post on X, stating that her husband, Abraham, had recently received a diagnosis of a rare form of bone cancer. She said the condition would require significant medical intervention in the coming weeks and months.

In her resignation letter, Gabbard expressed gratitude to Trump for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. “I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle,” Gabbard wrote.

Gabbard informed the President of her decision before publicly releasing the letter on Friday. Her last day in the position is set for June 30.

Gabbard, a former U.S. Representative from Hawaii, had held the ODNI role as part of Trump’s administration. The resignation marks another departure from the administration’s senior leadership.
