Trump Arrives Late to G7, Drops 4 Words On World Leaders…#

President Donald Trump arrived late to a G7 working session in France on Wednesday and declared “I’m the boss” upon entering the room, a quip that drew laughter from world leaders and quickly became the summit’s most discussed moment.

Trump joined the meeting already underway in Évian-les-Bains, where leaders from the world’s largest advanced economies gathered on the final day of the summit. French President Emmanuel Macron greeted him as he entered the room.

The Moment That Made Headlines

Trump paused before taking his seat and responded to Macron with a grin, delivering the four-word declaration that set the tone for his participation. The room erupted in laughter at the remark, which was delivered with a joking tone.

The comment reflected the reality of the summit’s dynamics, where major global discussions on Iran, Ukraine, energy markets, trade and security have centered on decisions made by Washington. European leaders had arrived hoping to focus on Ukraine and trade disputes, but Trump’s presence and announced diplomatic initiatives quickly dominated the agenda.

Iran Framework Steals Spotlight

Administration officials confirmed that Trump and Vice President JD Vance electronically signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran over the weekend, with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf signing on behalf of Tehran. Vice President Vance pushed back against reports claiming the agreement includes a massive reconstruction fund for Iran, stating, “What everybody will see is that Iran doesn’t get a dime of money unless they perform their obligations,” Vance said.

The preliminary agreement has shifted the summit’s focus dramatically, with detailed negotiations expected to continue over the next 60 days. Trump also met separately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the summit, a one-on-one meeting not originally on the president’s public schedule, and administration officials confirmed weapons sales to Ukraine would continue.

An Informal Diplomatic Style

Trump invited reporters to remain in the room as Macron attempted to begin the session, telling journalists, “Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me.” French officials quickly ushered the reporters out anyway.

As journalists exited, Trump joked about the meeting room conditions, saying, “It’s too hot in here.” The moment reflected the informal style that has defined Trump’s interactions at international summits, and despite predictions of tension, Trump and several world leaders appeared to improve their relations compared with previous international gatherings.
